Iwelumo Signs On Loan For City

City have signed Wolves and Scotland internatonal striker Chris Iwelumo on a one month emergency loan deal. Injury and illness have forced Gary Johnson's hand into the loan market with Danny Haynes and Nicky Maynard out with illness and injury respectively. These two players are City's main striking threats and with Patrick Agyemang and Alvaro Saborio appearing to be lacking confidence the move has been welcomed by City fans.

Iwelumo is no stranger to the City fans, he is best known as the player felled late on by Danny Coles against Brighton in the 2004 Division 2 Play-Off final at the Millennium Stadium. Leon Knight slotted in the resulting penalty past the outstretched glove of Steve Phillips to score the crucial and only goal. Iwelumo also had a starring role scoring a last minute winner as Charlton beat City in the last minute at Ashton Gate last season. Iwelumo is expected to be put straight into the squad to face Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
